What is a dns traversal?

Hi everybody.

Is there somebody who can explain me what the hell is a dns traversal?

Andreas,

as part of the resolution process, to translate a domain into an ip address, it is necessary to "jump" over multiple DNS servers, starting from root servers. The dns traversal test is useful to "see" all those jumps and to check that every SERVER has the same imformations in it.
